What Pekarna means within the broader context of the city is illustrated by the fact that the city officials themselves have told us that when they host foreign visits in Maribor, they do not show them the national theatre or gallery because the visitors have these things in their own town. Instead they take them to Pekarna. They are really proud to show that in such small town, in such a region, we have such a cultural complex. And this is the most important thing: they really see the importance of such spaces.
