We deserve more attention from the city

Ada Arduini

Interzona has between 6000 and 9000 members every year. The membership card lasts for one year and since our program is mainly based on independent rock music, our audience is at the age of let’s say 18 to 35. Of course, if we offer something different like theatre or cinema screenings, we have wider audience. Our audience consists of people coming from the neighbour regions like Lombardia and Emilia-Romagna but also of many students from the local University. I’m not sure if the city recognises our role in the cultural life of the city. Until now we have been kind of ignored by them. I think it is because of our building that was given to us by a private foundation and they don’t want to mess up with them. I think we are not being taken into consideration while deciding the cultural policy. Verona is a city concentrated mainly on conservation and heritage and there is not much space for innovation. I am sure that our audience really appreciates what we do here and I think that Interzona offers to the city of Verona something that nobody else does - for example contemporary art and independent music – and I believe we deserve more attention from the city.
